GENERAL
COMMENTS
The
reason for sending this issue of the bulletin while I am still in Florida is to
announce some of the details of my trip to England in May. With only two months to go, planning time is
getting short.
Some
of the other things that are happening with the formation of Graves Family
Association chapters, new DNA test results, etc., will be in the next issue.

TRIP
TO ENGLAND THIS MAY
I will be going to England
the middle of May. The purpose of the
trip is primarily to meet as many descendants of Graves, Greaves, and Grieve
families as possible, and get family information and DNA samples from them.
Because some people have
asked whether they can go with me, I have made arrangements for 4 people to go
along. If you have already asked to go
or if you would like to, please let me know as soon as possible. Because the group will be so small, it will
be basically whoever gets back to me first.
You can reach me by email through Friday, March 10, and for the 3 days after
that only by cell phone at 508-369-5217.
The tentative plan is for the
organized part of the tour to last about a week, from Wednesday, May 10 to
Tuesday, May 16. There will be 6
meetings with Graves/Greaves descendants in Hertford, Boston, York, Sunderland,
Keswick, Chester, and Coventry. We will be staying in bed and breakfast
lodging. Our tour guide will be Archie Affleck-Graves, a very experienced,
knowledgeable, interesting guide who is also a Graves descendant. He will drive
us in a Toyota Previa van that comfortably seats 5 passengers. So 4 people plus
me plus the guide will be the contingent.
We have the option of staying
an extra day in a couple of interesting locations such as Keswick (in the Lake
District) and York, and also of adding additional time of our own onto the
beginning or the end (for instance, to do research in London). These and other details (including cost)
will be finalized very soon.

GRAVES
GATHERING IN DORAVILLE, GA ON MARCH 12
If you live anywhere near Atlanta, GA, try to
be at this gathering. Vicki tells me
that she will have sandwich fixings and drinks available. She is expecting a good turnout.
SUNDAY, MARCH 12, 1 PM: Reunion at Pleasant
Hill Baptist Church, 4278 Chamblee Tucker Rd., Doraville, GA. It is a little northeast of Atlanta, just a short
distance from the intersection of Routes 85 and 285.
Vicki Watkins is the one organizing the
gathering. She can be contacted at vmartine@bellsouth.net or on her cell phone at
770-841-7571.
To contact me, you can send email to ken.graves@gravesfa.org, or call my cell phone
number, 508-369-5217.
This gathering will be a good opportunity to
share family information, learn more about your Graves/Greaves ancestry, learn
about the DNA study and even take a DNA test, and ask me questions.

NEW DNA STUDY RESULTS
In the past month or so, there have been 13 new sets of DNA test
results reported. Seven of those were
announced in the previous bulletin. The
additional 6 will be discussed in the next bulletin, and all will be added to
the appropriate summary tables and charts within the next week or so.
There have also been 4 additional tests ordered in the last month.
If your part of the family (any spelling, including Graves, Greaves,
Grieve, etc.) has not yet been tested, now is the time to find a male
descendants with the Graves/Greaves/Grieve surname and get them to take
part. See the GFA website for
instructions.
