George Greaves (10) was born 18 Nov. 1760 and died 2 July 1822.  He first married Lydia Loxley on 26 Sept. 1786 in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire.  She died 29 May 1797 in Cartin Brook, Ecclesfield, Yorkshire.  He married second Mary (Steel) Wing, daughter of Matthew Steel and Mary Nicholson of Kimberworth, on 8 Oct. 1799.  Mary was the widow of William Wing whom she married 23 March 1786 in Rotherham.  She was baptized 25 Jan. 1765 in Rotherham.  It was her daughter, Ann Wing, by her first marriage who married Benjamin Greaves (#31).  (R‑1, R‑3)

Benjamin Greaves (31) was born 3 March 1780.  He first married Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of Joseph Johnson of Woodseat and Mary ‑‑‑‑‑‑, on 8 Feb. 1802 in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire.  She was baptized 27 May 1782 in Ecclesfield, and died 16 July 1803.  He married second Ann Wing, daughter of William Wing and Mary Steel[2], on 9 May 1805.  She was born 14 April 1783 and was baptized 11 May 1783, both in Wentworth, Yorkshire, England.  All their children were baptized at St. Mary’s, Ecclesfield, Yorkshire.  (R‑1, R‑3)

William John Greaves (52) was born 6 Sept. 1806, was baptized 1 Jan. 1807, and died 18 March 1858, all in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire.  He married Mary Winks on 28 Feb. 1841 in the Parish Church, Rotherham, Yorkshire.  She was born about 1814 and was baptized 17 July 1814, both in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire.  They were in the 1841 and 1851 censuses for Ecclesfield, Yorkshire, and he was a grocer and druggist.  She was in the 1861 census for Emley, Yorkshire, with children Emily, Sarah and Henry living with her.  Next door was a household headed by William Winks, 57, farmer, probably a brother.  All their children were born in Ecclesfield.  Dates and places for William, Mary, and children Emily, James and Sarah, are from the IGI.  (R‑1)

John William Greaves (74) was born in 1845 in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire, England, died about 1925 in Whitehouse Farm, Ecclesfield, and was buried in Whitehouse Farm.  He married Fanny Tofield, daughter of Thomas Tofield and Mary Eaton.  She was born 13 Dec. 1845 in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire[4], and died in Nov. 1918.  All their children were born in Whitehouse Farm, Ecclesfield.  John, Fanny, and their children Mary, Susan, Richard and William, were listed in the 1881 census for Ecclesfield.  They were in the 1901 census for Ecclesfield, Yorkshire, White House Farm, with all the sons still at home.  John was a farmer.  (R‑1)

CHILDREN OF GEORGE GREAVES (95) AND RACHEL ------

John Greaves (113) was born about 1863 in Thorpe Hesley, Yorkshire.  He married Rose A. ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1866 in Chapeltown, Yorkshire.  They were in the 1891 census for Southill, Yorkshire.  Living with them was his mother, 52, and his brother Ernest, 12.  They were in the 1901 census for Rawmarsh, Yorkshire, 53 Lloyd Street.  He was a coal miner.

  144.  Sarah J. Greaves, b. 1891 (Southill, Yorkshire).  The 1901 census did not list a Sarah Graves, but there was a Mary Greaves of the same age, b. Batley, Yorkshire.

  145.  Ivy Greaves, b.c. 1897 (Parkgate, Yorkshire).
